Every day, business owners are asked to state who they are. To describe what they do. It comes in the form of an elevator pitch, a company or personal bio, or a professional resume. Many fail at those very basic tasks. Fail because they have not taken the time to craft a simple coherent response. Lesson 7, IDENTITY COMMUNICATIONS, reviews situations and circumstances where a business writer is asked to define themselves.
An Elevator Pitch might afford only 10-seconds to win a new client or secure a meeting. What most businesspeople don’t realize is that the person they’re speaking to doesn’t really care what they do. So, the elevator pitch must take a different approach to be effective.
A Company Biography or About Us description might be needed for a proposal, RFP response, or new business pitch. There should be multiple versions of these written identifiers depending on situation and need.
Lesson 7 looks at crafting a Personal Bio that might appear in a newsletter or article author byline. Finally, because circumstances change, the lesson reviews how to write 3 types of Resumes. Each with nuances that highlight experience, expertise, and even the age of a job applicant.
